I am asked frequently about the sets that are available through Copic. Which is a good one? Which one will get me what I need? The answer is just not that simple. It is so dependent on what you will be coloring, your own personal color preferences and as you practice and your skills improve looking at pushing contrast and variety in your coloring. I have always, for those reasons, been a huge supporter of collecting individual markers and creating your own “perfect” set!
That being said there are some amazing smaller sets of Copics that can get you headed in the right direction. One of those sets is the Skin Tone Set of Ciao Copics. It is a set of 6 markers that includes E000, E00, E11, E15, E18 and E93.
6 markers you say how much variety can you get out of 6 markers? WELLLL…let me show you. I took this as a personal challenge! I picked a new stamp from Stampendous out of my stash that I have been excited about using, stamped her multiple times and tried to push this little group of 6 markers to see the true range that I could achieve.
I am personally tickled with the results. I love a good challenge and I tend to do my best work when I have one. I feel like this is one of those “best” moments. I love the range from a fair skinned face to a truly deep brown skin tone. And all of them turned out lovely. I also was thrilled to find a couple new combinations that I had never tried before that turned out BEAUTIFULLY! Here is a map of the colors that I used on each of the faces.
Here are all the ladies close up
E000, E00, E93
E00, E11, E93 (LOVE THIS and so simple!)
E00, E11, E15, E93
E11, E15, E93
E00, E11, E15, E18, E93
I did not use ANY other colors on the faces above just the 6 markers coming in the Skin Tone set! Then I decided the image was looking so nice that I better just keep coloring so I gave them each unique hair and eye coloring and kept the clothing simple as if they are a dance or performance group :-).
I am thrilled with how these ladies turned out! and all that gorgeous skin with just 6 markers! So all of that to tell you, if yo are looking to add a range of skin tones into your collection, it just does not take much! If you are interested in the Ciao set check them out HERE.
Color, color, color, write down your favorites and then color some more!
Have a Happy Colorful Week!
This month Imagination International, Inc. asked me to doodle! Say what?! Are you serious?! OH YEAH, let me at it! The few of you that have followed me for a while know that when I started teaching on-line and live classes about 14 years ago I started by teaching doodling classes! In fact I was teaching doodling to my high school art students over 20 years ago! Yikes, I did not just admit that (I am showing my age here). The request was to showcase one of the Multiliner sets this month and I said ABSOLUTELY sign me up!
So here came this lovely set of Multiliners! These are NOT the SP version I was talking about last month. These are disposable when they run out of ink. This particular set contains some nib sizes that are new to me! The set includes a .03, .05, .1 and .3 Here is what all those look like side by side:
These are fine detailed nibs, perfect for tiny detailed doodling.
Doodling to me is one of those VERY relaxing practices. I can fall into a doodle and quiet my mind. The repetitive patterns to me are very relaxing. If you are an experienced doodler, Zentangler, or sketch artist the Copic Multiliners are worth a try. Weather you plan on adding gorgeous Copic color (of course they are completely compatible with Copic inks) or not, the Multiliners just might become your favorite go to sketch pens.
If you are unsure, start with the Multiliners and when you fall in love you can buy your favorite sizes in the Multiliner SP series. You of course can find them all, including sets with wonderful ranges in nib sizes and fun colors over at Imagination International, Inc.
Have a Happy, Colorful, Doodly Week!

Any crafter knows you are only as good as your adhesive. 😉 The glue, tape, foam etc..is what holds it all together! I use a lot of different tapes and adhesives, one of them is the double sided tape from X-Press It. It comes in a roll that is 55 yards long. THAT IS A LOT OF TAPING FRIEND!
It is crazy easy to use, peel off the length that you want and tear off a strip. It tears easily by hand.
Stick the sticky side down on your project and remove the backing. And you are ready to stick it! Easy Peasy!
I have been making cards for Copic in the Craft Room videos. I used X-Press Double sided tape and foam to create each of these cards. All three of these cards will be appearing over the next month on our YouTube and Facebook pages.
Want some more information on all the great X-Press adhesives? Check all the details out at Imagination International, Inc.
Have a Happy Colorful Week!
