Selfies

I have another layout up at Get It Scrapped today.  The inspiration is “Selfies” the fun trend of taking photos of yourself.  Those of uswho are the memory keepers and photograpers in our families are often missing in the photos so it is a nice trend to catch yourself on occasion.  Here is my layout:

SelfiesI’m a Gonzo by Michelle Houghton | Supplies: cardstock and letters; American Crafts, watercolor paper; Strathmore, pearls; Prima and Want 2 Scrap, ink; Copic; color on photos; Prismacolor, background color; Gelatos by Faber Castell, trims and tag; unknown

I had a great time creating this background with my new found medium Gelatos by Faber Castell.  Here is how I created it:

Step #1 – On heavy water color paper I used a white crayon, just a regular Crayola crayon, and wrote words all over the page.

Step #2 – I used 3 shades of Gelatos to color over the entire page lightly.

Step #3 – I used  a brush and water to go over the entire page.  I cleaned the brush regularly, I wanted the colors to blend but not mix completely.

Step #4 – I let my paper dry, distressed the edges, adhered it to a navy cardstock and added all my elements on top to finish my layout.

I also printed my images on matte photo paper so I could hand color my eyes.  I used Prismacolor colored pencils to do the coloring here.

Thanks for stopping by, I will have another busy blog week this week so stop back by! Oh!  And HERE is a link to the fun article at Get It Scrapped!

Happy Tuesday!

  1. I am not sure what I love best–probably the layout with your photos because you are MY girl. I agree with you, the layout of your girls with the “chalkboard” is amazing. You have done some wonderful scrapbooking lately and it is a delight to visit your blog!!
