Two layouts at Get It Scrapped

With the craziness of summer vacation upon us I did not get last week’s Get It Scrapped layout posted.  I have to say I love this concept and I really had fun with it.  The article is on using collections on your layouts.  I initially assumed I would fill a page with buttons since I have done that before and because I tend to hoard buttons BUT as I started looking through my photos I found these shots of my daughters with butterflies and I thought to myself “hey, I think I have a lot of butterflies I should see how many I could dig out of my stash”  Here is the result;

Collections

Supplies: cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper; patterned paper: Lillybee Design and Basic Grey; denim: Canvas Corp; pearls: Queen and Company; stickers: Basic Grey and Crate Paper; butterflies: SEI, Studio Calico, Maya Road, Jenni Bowlin, Queen and Company, Prima, American Crafts, Crate Paper and Basic Grey; other: thread

I found butterflies from 9 different manufacturers and managed to get them all on a page together.  One of the butterflies is colored with Copics, one is painted and all the others are as I found them.  I was amazed not only at how well they all matched but also how many I had tucked away. And of course as soon as I was finally getting around to posting this layout here comes the next.  Today Get It Scrapped tackled a fun new challenge, Combining Plaid and Paisley.  I am telling you this was not as easy as I figured.   These two patterns don’t play nicely together but I found some great help in two places! First I was inspired by one of the other articles posted this month, Polish Your Paper Mixes with Borders I also recently had the pleasure of taking one of Debbie’s Scrapbook Coach classes and I used one of the brilliant lessons from that class to help me create my layout.  Here is my attempt at plaid and paisley:

Plaid and Paisley
